Keana Paerata is an emerging spatial designer and Māori artist based in Tāmaki Makaurau. Her work explores whakapapa, site specific relative to whenua, and material practice, bridging Māori art, design, and architecture through Te Ao Māori philosophies.
Engaging with traditional materials such as uku (clay) and kōkōwai, Keana's kaupapa-led practice includes workshops, spatial interventions, and material experimentation, creating work that honours tikanga Māori while envisioning contemporary expressions of cultural identity. Her projects are collaborative and community-focused, often grounded in whānau, marae development, and kaupapa Māori design research.
